Portbradden Cottage Wedding
Hazel and Paul’s incredible North Coast wedding took place in the most serene and unique venue imaginable; a quaint cottage by the sea with their nearest and dearest for company proving unequivocally that bigger does not mean better!
Paul and Hazel are huge Game of Thrones fans and the original plan was to have their wedding the the Pantry at the Dark Hedges. Like so many couples though, they were ultimately let down when this lovely venue went into insolvency. Wanting to proceed with their chosen date, and with only a little bit of time to regroup, they put their heads together and decided on what was most important to them - their family and friends all under one roof. Thats when they came up with the amazing idea or hosting their wedding at a quaint cottage by the sea
After a pre-wedding consultation, Hazel and Paul decided that they wanted to make sure that their formal wedding photographs to be taken at some of the most beautiful locations on the North Coast. As a surprise to the couple, I arranged for them to get special access to the Cottage at Dunluce Castle for a whiskey tasting, via the land-owner, Sean. Needless to say the couple were delighted with this! A few quick photographs and then left alone to sample the North Coast’s finest whiskey,
The nest stop on our North Coast tour was Dunseverick Castle. This has become one of the most popular and most photographed venues in the area for weddings and elopements. It’s history, tradition and mysticism adds a level of ambience of these ruins adds a level of depth and ambience to the photographs taken here that is almost impossible to replicate elsewhere.
Last but not least, being the avid Game of Thrones fans that they area, there was no question that we were going to stop at The Dark Hedges. This part of the North Coast has become famous because of the TV show and attracts hundreds-of-thousands of tourists per year. On this occasion, the stars aligned and we managed to get off a few beautiful bridal portraits before a tour bus dropped of fifty enthusiastic GoT fans who all wanted their picture taken at the famous laneway.
I couldn’t be more thankful to Hazel and Paul for allowing me to capture their special day and photograph them at some of the most beautiful locations on the island of Ireland. I wish them a lifetime of nothing but happiness, adventure and success
“Thank you so much for the photos, they’re absolutely gorgeous and I love them so much. Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera but Jonathan made us feel completely at ease. Also the framed photo was such a lovely, sweet thing to do; it’s honestly blown me away'.“
